Capricorn in Aquarius - Part Two
I didn't even make the bed. I flung myself on the floor like the best of drama queens and just laid there, leaving my door open.
It was a few minutes before I heard footsteps below, slow and shuffling, then Mom;s voice, "Where are you going?"
"I'm going back to bed," came my father's voice. He mounted the stairs, slowly but steadily. I waited for him to pass my door.
However. he didn't turn at the head of the stairs. He continued on to my room. I could heard his ragged breathing as he paused in the open doorway. Then, I felt gentle hands pick me up by the shoulders and draw me to my feet. Still holding one hand, he reached behind himself and closed the door. Then, without preamble, he said abruptly, "All right - where is it?"
I looked blankly at him, not understanding.
"Where is it? And don't ask me what 'it'is. I know what you're hiding from me and your mother tonight. Let me see it."
Dawn came up like thunder.
