I Need to Rant
Every so often a Republican troll will show up in one of my Democratic dominated Facebook groups and talk about how the Democrats are the real party of the KKK and how we have a Racist history and how Lincoln Ended Slavery and what not and the demmocrats were against that.
I know Lincoln ended Slavery but I think Lincoln would be ashamed of what's become of his party.

Why do White supremacist and Neo nazis run as Republicans? Why do they feel more welcome in the Republican party than the Democratic party if we really are in bed with the kKK?
We elected a Black man to the presidency I'm not saying that that proves we're not racist but we've gone from being the opposition to Lincoln to Passing the Civil rights act of 1968 and today the Democratic party wins the Black vote by Huge margins compared to the Republicans.
There's a Rumor that no one can prove that Lyndon Johnson said on signing the civil rights act that he'd lost the south for a generation and ever since the Civil rights act of 1968 we've seen all kinds of Racial Resentment and White people pissed off at the hand of Big Brother Telling them they cannot discriminate and put for instance a Sign in the window that says no Blacks allowed at this establishment.
They feel oppressed at the Civil rights act because they see anti discrimination laws as big brother interfering in the economy and have Ginned up all kinds of Racial resentments and the GOP has used the Southern Strategy to appeal to Racist Whites in the south and dominated southern politics and with it the Senate and the house for YEARS. The south used to be Solidly Democratic but they all fled to the Republican party after the Civil rights act.
The South really is racist but fortunately whites in the south are starting to be outnumbered and the Democrats are astutely going to spend resources registering Southern Blacks and Latinos to vote and i'm going to donate to those efforts.
It's true the Democratic party used to be the party of the KKK and 100 years ago we were the supporters of Slavery but when we desegregated the schools and admitted Blacks into our White schools the southern whites got Pissed off and left the Democratic party and became Republicans and Republicans appeased them.
They've used Dog whistle politics for years and coded racial appeals to win Racist Southerners over and relied heavily on the south but fortunately the Demographics of the south are shifting rapidly and soon even Texas will be Purple.

Why were the majority of southerners Democratic until the Civil rights act and Brown vs the Board of education?
I know the shameful history of the Democratic party and I know klansmen used to be Democratic and we were the opposition to Lincoln during the end of slavery but I'm a northern Democrat and I would of stood with Lincoln during that time.
The parties used to have Wings. There used to be Conservative moderate and Liberal Republicans just like there were Conservative Democrats and Liberal Democrats. Lincoln was a LIBERAL Republican.
