I Write Poetry

A lesson learnt and fingers burnt the old fool settles down
with painted mask and drawn on laugh a spiteful dancing clown.
Just press a penny in the slot and she will dance for you
into the night before it's light until the dawn comes through.
No need for nice you’ve paid the price a coin dropped in for pleasure
don’t worry none it’s just begun so enjoy it at your leisure.
Her mirrored face of past reflection turns and twists in time
to a slow sung tune about the moon that doesn’t need to rhyme.
And when at last the music stops and all the tears are dry
just drop more pennies in the slot for another lonely sigh.
