Summer's End Fest
Deep in a quiet forest glade
A fairy circle stands
Mushrooms in a perfect ring
Where the fairies go to make plans
Queen Larkspur called for a meeting
To plan the summer's end fest
Her advisors came from miles around
She only called the best
The gathering was at midnight
Under a crystal starry sky
Sentries were posted all around
Lest a troll should happen by
Larkspur called them to order
To take suggestions from the floor
All there agreed that this year's fest
Would be like none before
Amaryllis suggested ribbons
Of red and green and blue
Then she heard a hoot owl calling
And off to him she flew
Hydrangea wanted cupcakes
And candy and other sweets
Then she spotted a wandering moonbeam
She left one more empty seat
A band was mentioned by Hyacinth
For she dearly loved to dance
When a night bird started to sing
She was gone without a glance
Marigold asked for snowflakes
She knew they would match her gown
Then the moon dipped behind a cloud
When it cleared she was nowhere around
Bluebonnet started to giggle
She'd forgotten why they were there
She got headaches if she thought to much
So she flew off into the air
Queen Larkspur sat alone in the clearing
Slowly swaying to and fro
Plans for the fest were forgotten again
And no one would ever know
Deep in a quiet forest glade
A fairy circle stands
Mushrooms in a perfect ring
Where the fairies go to make plans
Queen Larkspur called for a meeting
To plan the summer's end fest
Her advisors came from miles around
She only called the best
The gathering was at midnight
