I Like a Good Quote

"Revenge is a confession of pain." ~Latin proverb
馃 I might as well get my tongue cut and remain in pain than let my words and actions feel and/or speak revenge.
@GwydionFrost: :) No. Sometimes loving someone from a distance is a terrible pain. I wouldn't go for something revengeful coz I have always loved to travel lighter on the life's path.
Besides, I have nothing to feel this useless feeling of pride.

Thanks. I appreciate such discussions.

@Silentspectator: Oh. Loving from a distance is indeed a terrible pain. Especially if it is sincere, and known, and still one sided.

I had one of those kinds of loves. When I first moved to Vermont, back in 1978, when Dad was transferred by IBM there-- I walked into my new classroom, and from the very first moment I saw this girl-- I was smitten. I mean, absolute, total devotion and adoration. This was no mere crush, I was instantly transformed into Lancelot, and she was Guinevere. This was the 5th grade. I had NO eyes for anyone else, until 12th grade. And even then, if she but gave me the word, I would have tossed everything aside without hesitation.

Did we ever get together...? Nope. But let's shoot forward 25 years later, when she admits to me... "My one regret in life...? When you showed up on my doorstep, and my mother asked me to invite you in...? I SHOULD HAVE. I should have believed you when you told me how you felt. Because I have spent all these years searching for the very thing you offered, without ever asking for anything in return." I replied, "You know... there is a song that I know, that reminds me of us. Let me share it with you."

It's now been over 30 years since we graduated high school. She is one of my closest and dearest friends. To this very day, she calls me on my birthday and sings me "Happy Birthday", without fail.

Here's the song:

@GwydionFrost: Bless your heart. Would check on the number when I can.

Yet that very pain is tremendously satisfying too. I love my Pop that way (physical distance) and few others too. Out of them, some ain't on this physical realm for sure and of some am not certain coz they are alive in my soul's eyes.
