I Write Dark Poetry

Lost in illusion, a desperate mind yearning for an infusion, a life of delusion,
Just now left to drift in confusion,

A windswept rain gust,
Droplets hitting the metal, the ensuing rust, the lost trust,

Rotting the mind, leaving the heart blind,
Losing the strength to find,

A mind slowly which loses focus and will,
Everything becomes so quiet and still,
The soul becomes empty, nothing left in the till,

A mind now quickly drifting off to the lonely and haunting abyss,
Not but one good memory left to reminisce,
Neary a drop of water remaining but still a full bucket list,

How does one quench the thirst of a heart about to burst,
A mind which eventually becomes numb and only knows hurt,

Something within which becomes slowly taken away,
Most of the time we never notice, just kind of hazy and gray,
A battered mind eventually gets lost in the fray,
Just one penny for your thoughts on this given day...

Wow! This one reminds me of a brevity poem I wrote called Mind Corrosion. I really enjoy your style of writing, it is very relatable.
