I Am a Hopeless Romantic

I was just an unexceptional guy,
Working away, as the days go by,
Not a moment's peace, and I knew not why
I thought I was happy but that was a lie.

It was, however, on that fateful day
I was just going my own merry way
Perhaps it was Fate, some shall say,
on that morning in the month of May.

You walk through the crowd, montly unseen,
a plain simple girl but with the walk of a queen!
Oh all my life, where have you been,
you beautiful lady with eyes so green!

The world around, a misty haze,
I am trapped in your enchanting gaze.
Inescapable, like a labyrinthian maze,
I shall pine for you for days and days.

Perhaps it would've been wise,
to avoid your beautiful eyes.
for now I must squelch my heart's mournful cries,
Until this feeling goes cold and dies.

I close my eyes but your image stays,
torturing me in pleasurable ways,
I'm living life in a hopeless daze,
still trapped in your enchanting gaze.

Oh tell me beautiful, what shall I do?
My heart continues to pine for you.
what is happening, I have no clue!
In just one glance, have I fallen for you?

On the smooth green grass, among flowers I lie
looking up at the starry night sky,
across the heavens, shooting stars fly by,
"It was nothing" I say but c'mon, that's a lie.

Walking with you on the beach in the month of June,
dancing in the streets with you at noon,
Kissing you softly under the full moon,
Could this perhaps, all come true soon?

For weeks I am sleepless, throughout the night,
Sleep evades me, try as I might,
You stole my heart without a fight
I think I'm struck by love at first sight.

Your absence is painful; I just want to scream!
But then I see you again, or so it would seem,
like an ethereal Goddess out of a dream
Illuminated by a golden sun beam.

Oh to get a glimpse of you again!
Standing there, so perfect yet plain!
For something to say, I wrack my brain,
while my heart enjoys the sweet pain.

I sit there transfixed for a long while,
my entire being rendered immobile,
by the sight of you, decked out in style,
pulse going wild from your heart-rending smile.

I want to say something but my body froze,
but I break the spell and get on my toes!
I walk up to you and whip out a rose,
and recite to you my romantic prose.

"On this day as the stars align,
and the heavenly forces are trine,
O wondrous beauty, so pristine,
Will you be my Valentine?"
