I Love Christmas
There is so much I love and cherish about the Yule season but more and more the incessant commercialism is bringing me down. I know this is nothing new, Charlie Brown was bemoaning it over half a century ago. But it seems to get worse and worse every year. Everywhere I turn there's ads telling me to BUY BUY BUY! CONSUME AND SPEND MORE AND MORE AND MORE!
It's become an industry unto itself. And that's something it was never meant to be.
The magic of Christmas is mysterious and beautiful and touches us right to the soul. It wakes up the child inside that sometimes lies sleeping too long, and make us smile even when it's been a really bad year. It gives us hope for the year ahead. It means lots of things, too many to list. I truly love it. But the over-the-top commercialism has become exhausting to me.
