It was probably a bad idea, but I couldn't resist doing it. I just ordered 3 books on cultivating mushrooms and a mushroom growing kit. Bad idea since

my current future as to where I'll be is completely up in the air. Maybe I'll gift the grow kit to my Dad... 馃

I met someone who's wife had a sister that was with a mushroom grower that grew them by the score in his basement and ended up with horrific, their life quality was destroyed. Their bodies were invaded by the spores and both had to have tissues excised. Both need colostomy equipment now to survive. Terrible tragedy. Just terrible. 馃槖

So the problem was in having it in the home and not a private lab on the scale they were growing mushrooms?

@MrAboo The information that was shared with me was so horrible to hear that I didn't ask or wish to know.

Since I'd always been told that mushroom spores don't attach to living material I found it more important to check if that was factual.

What I found out was that some spores are extremely ph adaptable, easily airborne, secrete a variety of acids and enzymes, and that actually parasitic forms do exist and are usually fatal to the host.

At that point one needs to know that the risks far outweigh the potential fun of a hallucinogenic trip. Eating something grown in your basement or an outdoor shed that prefers cow shit as it's food source might not be advisable.

@SteelHands no, I鈥檓 not planning to grow hallucinogens. Just food. It sounds like it was the concentration of spores that affected them though
