I only think that pain is suitable only for those who hurt others to invoke suffering and find enjoyment in it. Yes, for those people, I have no issue being as cruel as it takes. Only problem is that those who tend to do that are easily overlooked most of the time.
@YukikoAmagi I don't think killing half the people was right but he had a good reason to do so.

I suppose there's a bit of immediate satisfaction from what may be considered justice. Doesn't seem like it ever lasts for very long though. The pain some people can manage to inflict is way worse than and lasts longer than what anyone could possibly do to them.
In the last John Wayne movie “The Cowboys” , Bruce Dern played such a “good” bad guy that I cheered when he was dragged to his death through a river bed by a horse.
