Y and N. Discussion leads to understanding, which shapes opinions. So yes, talking less allows you to listen more. However, you also need to speak up and challenge what you hear if you want to get a better look at the full picture.

@Madhatter Often the full picture will reveal itself later but one must guess having an open discussion, being open, precipitates that.

Often it's good to be quiet and take in what you are feeling and thinking. That can be dangerous though, if your mind assumes a lot and misses the mark.
