The truest reason the feds keep weed and psychedelics illegal is because they free you from the confines of their systematic methods of mind control.

I mean, in their position, wouldn't you want the same? To prevent any significant challenge to your well orchestrated ethos? (or least try to)

I will always hold this cynical view, but it's the down-right blood-stained complacent truth of it all.
I've had positive experiences with them when I was younger but I believe you can reach the same breakthroughs through deep thought and meditation.

I personally don't think any substance should be illegal as adults should be free to perturb their consciousness in any way they wish, but I don't think they are actually necessary. If you raise a child correctly they won't need to douse their brain in exogenous chemicals to have a psychedelic experience they will be able tap into the parts of their brain that make those experiences possible in the first place. That goes similarly with, stimulants, opioids, etc. The only reason these substances work is because the receptors in our brains exist to interact with them they can all be produced naturally through different means we just don't live the lifestyle necessary to activate the production of them. Then anti depressants are prescribed to try to balance everything out but those have negative side effects of their own.

I think one of the main reasons these substances are illegal is it's hard to monetize them but that's changing now with marijuana, and even psilocybin and mdma are being used to treat people with PTSD. I think within our lifetimes you will see a host of psychedelics being produced by drug manufactures. Ultimately I believe all of these substances can be beneficial when used as medicine but medicine is used to treat the sick and it's probably best to avoid getting sick and requiring them in the first place and even then using them as little as possible. Alan Watts had one of the best quotes about psychedelics which is "Once you get the message, hang up the phone."

lol man don't get me wrong i love smoking weed but if anything it makes people easier to control. passive do not pay attention to what is going on around them and most of the time they just do not care what is happening.

@johnnyq12 That might be both true and false. Not all weeds works the same, and not all users react the same to it.
It can cause lethargy, passiveness, even complacency.. but it can also lead one to be much more thought engaged and philosophical. I think that for thinking people, it can be a catalyst.

The same reason with the war on drugs, all busts that involve heroin, meth, cocaine are back on the streets flooding again after media reports of billion dollar seizures how does that work out? Because unlike mind expanding psychedelics, the addictive substances mentioned are “mind altering substances”. As an ex addict I lost focus on that freedom of mind control while I was an addict.

@SW-User it's because the heat and the noise are one in the same and the entire world is corrupt.

@SW-User and duely noted. An escape from one trap and into another is how I truly and honestly see it.

But I do beleive that psychedelics are powerful tools in understanding the mind, and for some that appeal/intrigue/curiosity is well worth the risk.

@MougyWolf they sure are bro. Aya helped me let go of so much fear in my life, and it was the confronting experience I needed to get me back in my feet as the coke I was hooked on threw me into the ground.

This is so stupid. If anything weed and psychedelics dumb you down and make you dependent on them. Theyre fun every once in awhile if you know how to control yourself, but thats about it. If anything, psychedelic drugs are used for mind control. Look up MK Ultra

@KidAzazel a fail attempt. That plan back fired when many soldiers defected wanting to "put an end to war"

@MougyWolf where have you heard about this?

It’s about money, that’s all it’s ever about.

I am inclined to agree.
