Eye-hugging
Between dogs, eye contact can be a sign of aggression and dominance.
I recently read the answer to the question, "Why does my dog gaze at me?"
Of course, since dogs can stubbornly decline to answer questions posed by researchers, the answer is up for debate.
That person answered that a dog seeking eye contact is a sign of affection and trust. The dog is not afraid locking eyes with you will cause you to leap for his/her throat, nor that you will regard it as aggression.
The responder said, "Your dog is hugging you with her eyes."
I like this and choose to believe it.
