I Am Sick of People Arguing About Religion and Politics

I was watching this program where the host was asking a minister why did so many 'christians' supported the present administration even though it goes against a lot of what is in their scriptures. The minister response included the word 'hyprocrites' in it. As I listened to him speak, I realized that there's another reason why people go against their beliefs.

Because it is not their beliefs to begin with. In order to have a 'belief system', you need to educate and implement your beliefs. Many 'christians' do not read the Bible, nor study it, so they are totally ignorant of what is in it.

So I humbly request that to anyone who consider themselves 'christian', please, please educate yourself as to what a 'christian' is before you yell I am going to hell. Is that how the real Messiah would behave?...

That could be true, but quite frankly the more insidious problem is non-christians claiming to that they know what the Bible means more than actual christians, and then posing on the subject.

Case in point - those who argued that President Trump's policies were unchristian - which of course, even a cursory knowledge of the Bible will show that wasn't true (though it's true of the current occupier of the WH).

So it's a little rich for nonchristians to make uninformed statements claiming they know what God actually says in the Bible.

@QueenandCrown Of course. In the end it depends on the specific things they are saying.

@QueenandCrown But the Lord gives us tools to discern the difference. Some of those are in the Bible, some are not. Not the least of which is the guiding of the Holy Spirit.

@SW-User I can understand that.

I find the current President to be more true to the Holy Bible than the previous resident of the office.
It is sad that they considered the nominees to the Supreme Court to be more important than the person holding the office.

I turned off the tv a couple years ago so no religion or politics. My attitude is much better.

You'd be familiar with books written by Bart J Ehrman, I imagine...

@walabby Yes..I adore his work..
Perennial meme-blather here, won't go away. Espeically the idiot Xianity. Thomas Merton would bore them to death.

Too much left bashing too and moronic monkey-say with the right wing crap

Research some history of how the presently-accepted version of the Bible has been comprised, and the criteria under which sections were kept or discarded. To be a follower you need not do anything but obey, and for a great many people that appears to be acceptable in practice, else they would seek more.

@shaelan I agree, but I know Christians who are studied have a different approach to how they deal with others based on their belief systems. They don't tell people they are going to 'hell', or any foolishness like that. They are respectful in nature.

All religious institution exists to cater to those who are at that specific point (to which they cater) in their own spiritual evolutionary path, and so it remains valid the collection of such points include those where the followers tell people they are going to hell. Having said that, the tendency of humans to operate under personal agendas has led to corruption, and not only in matters religious.

Reminds me of what Mohandas Gandhi was once reported to have said "I love your Christ, but I do not like your Christians. Your Christians are so unlike your Christ"
@shakenama great minds...😉

@bijouxbroussard I didn't even see your post till now.... Lol!!... Nice
QueenandCrown · 41-45, F
@shakenama That is because Christians are NOT Christ. The Messiah had a personal relationship with God. He wasn't advocating a religion, but having a relationship with God.

Religion is used to control. If someone thought about it, they would recognize that science validates most religion.

This is not a post to prove that a God exists or not, it's about people following their beliefs system.

@bijouxbroussard Ghandi freed India from the British crown, and their Christian people. The Brits had plans for India that included a whole rail system to unite the country and help it grow economically. Today, after seventy years of autonomous rule, those plans have yet to be implemented. Just one example of why colonialism might not have been a bad thing.
