What is your reaction to girl gamers? [I Am a Girl Gamer]

This whole "gamer" labeling concept is fairly new and in my opinion, stupid. I grew up with the evolution of video game technology from Atari-present and nobody back in the day called themselves "gamers." We didn't define who we were by the video games we played. There were other aspects to life far more important. Video games were just like a bookmark, they weren't the entire novel or even a whole chapter. It's just industry driven marketing and all the self titled "gamers" are falling right in line. Now I see all kinds of comments calling people out for not being a true gamer or just a casual gamer. It's ridiculous. Geezus look how old I am..Lecturing children about how things were better back in the old days. Well I should hit the store to get some Metamucil and nice wool lap blanket for my rocking chair. Life is officially over. Better TiVo Murder She Wrote.

What I dislike is when a female claims themselves to be a gamer girl to attract the attention of others. Not implying that you're like that though. I can't consider myself a gamer, but I do like games sometimes.

@TheJudgerNautSquared I wonder if it's just a progression. When I was young we defined ourselves by what music we liked, my parents by films, my grandparents by books. All of those things represent a reality but games, you could argue more than any of them, give the clearest view of a different reality.

I don't call someone a guy gamer or a girl gamer, just as a gamer. I used to think girls weren't into gaming, besides those card games you find on a PC like Solitaire, Hearts and so on. Now I had an eye opener 4 years ago when my best friend is a girl plays video games.

No idea, doesn't mean anything to me. though i'd imagine this is how it goes in most people's minds "OH MY GOD, LOOK OVER THERE! DO YOU SEE THAT! ANOTHER HUMAN BEING PLAYING THE SAME GAME, HOLY SHIT!" ...

in my chosen addiction, the male gamers all assume i'm a guy till someone clues them in. lol they are like really? i ended up putting up a really sexy pic of me on Skype where we communicate. now they all want to date me.

I don't really care about games anymore. too much graphics and less plotlines and through out the details for the whole game is the reason why I sold my xbox 1 and PS4.

I think it's great that more girls are playing games. The next step is getting women to start programming them. That'll really open things up.

you talk about games not having plotlines and you don't have your ps4 what about uncharted 4 and the new ratchet and clank

It doesn't really matter to me, id rather play with a girl anyways because the guys I play with are way to serious

I heard something saying the majority of guy's who hate gamer girls have lost to girls online

we just like girls who play video games and be a couch potato with us
