Has anyone else thought that maybe anime swords and weapons are so large because the artists can't get the same level of detail making them normal?

I've got Inuyasha playing right now and it made me wonder why anime and video game weapons have to be so huge.

No, I think it's because a male ego thing that bigger is better.

If a woman is wielding her boob's are huge and her armour only covers half of her, for exactly the same reason
