Passion. I tend to work hard at the things that matter, in part because of a lack of self-belief. I like to do things 'properly' ..that can be a curse of course but I do believe that success is the end result of tenacity or 'grit' ..in fact there's a good video on TED.com about this.

Yeah. That's great! Passion really comes from anything too, so it explains everyone's answers! Being the best you can, competition, frustration, avoiding failure, proving people wrong, just being alive...they are all driven by passion.

Yes... but don't forget... failure is a necessary part of success.. there's a saying.. 'if something is worthwhile it's worth being bad at' - meaning that when you start with something it's likely you'll struggle, you may even suck at it... but with work and dedication..with the will to succeed and learning as you go...well they pretty much assure success. It's also worth noting that you don't 'fail' unless you stop trying...but also..that as goals change... it can be ok to stop doing something and turn your attention to something else... and of course.. the big one.. 'failure is not a permanent state.'

Yeah, but failing does drive you to try and not fail again. I do agree though! :)

Yes, hence my comment that failing is a necessary part of success... To learn and to try again. :)
