Why does everyone tell me that I sing well? Are they tone deaf or something?
I sing because I feel like singing. I know I sing awfully, and then people tell me I should be in chorus. GAH I HATE MY VOICE :X

Those who are most critial of their skills usually end up being the best. As soon as you are happy about something you stop improving, if you are never happy you continue to improve, it is precisely BECAUSE you think you are awful that you may be much better than you think.

Your voice most likely sounds worse to you than it does to other people. That's very common. You probably sing well if other people say so. :)

No one likes a recording of their own voice because it sounds different than what you hear in your head. Even some famous singers don't listen to their own music.
