What time do you turn off your front light on Halloween to let trick-or-treaters know that you're done giving out candy?

Of course, we turn off the front light when all of the Halloween candy is gone, but some years we just don't get that many trick-or-treaters, so we have a lot of candy left over. But you have to have a cutoff point somewhere, even with lots of candy left. So if you still have lots of candy left, how do you decide when it's time to call it a night?

I didn't give out ANY candy this year, and won't ever do so again.

Did something bad happen in the past, that made you not want to do that again? Of course, if you'd rather not say, I'm fine with that. I'm just curious.

Last year NO ONE showed up, so this year, I felt there was no need to buy all that candy again.

Oh, I understand. I'm sorry to hear that. Some years we don't get very many either, and that's always disappointing. It kind of ebbs and flows, as kids grow up and new families move into the neighborhood.

I haven't given out candy in 25 years, since I lived in a nicer neighborhood.
