Have you read anything by Tom Wolfe?

I've read The Bonfire of the Vanities and The Right Stuff.

This morning I was lying in bed, looking at my bookshelf and I noticed my couple of books by Tom Wolfe. I then thought to myself, "Tom Wolfe...is he still alive?" I checked my phone and found out that he had just died at the age of 87, and news stories about his death started showing up about 20 minutes before I suddenly thought to look him up. Bizarre.

Either way, R.I.P. to an insightful non-fiction author and novelist.

One of the oddest movie-making decisions was Bonfire of the vanities.
A clever and knowing book, poorly adapted, given to a director renowned for 'slice and dice' thrillers, starring the best known actors of the day, all as characters against type and the hash of a movie they made is generally thought of as how NOT to adapt a popular novel. 'R'-rated because of the language used. So that cut the numbers of theatres that played it and also restricted the advertising. Costing an estimated $47 Million to produce and grossed less than $16 Million in the U.S.

A really good book but butchered for the big screen.
THOMAS Wolfe..the classic author of many years ago? Yes. Author of "You Can't Go Home Again "and 'Look Homeward, Angel"

But I suspect you are not referring to THAT THOMAS WOLFE.

So no..

@Elandra77 No, this would be Thomas Kennerly Wolfe, Jr. of the latter half of the 20th century.

Both are worth reading, however :)
@SW-User Indeed it would be. The Kennedy was usually omitted in his name. Old timers , such as myself, just referred to him as Tom. So when Tom Wolfe came out it was confusing for a bit.

The latter part I am not so sure of. "You Can't Go Home Again" was published in 1934. About a 1/3 of the century in. I first read it in 1969. That. and Solzhenitsyn's "The First Circle" were the last I read that decade.☺
Oh no :( im reading him now
