is good and bad just socially established?

or is it like a universal law that has always been there?
what do you think?
CaptainCanadia · 41-45, M
It's socially established. I mean there are certain things that kind of contradict our biological imperative in that they're destructive to the community and thus universally bad (murdering someone in your community)... but most of our concept of good/evil is entirely social.

I don't think good and bad are social constructs. Fair or unfair are.
Good is everything that creates, as a matter or fact or potentially, life and strength. Bad is the opposite.

Our current notions of 'good' and 'bad' are by no means universal; they clearly differ between societies. A man in Syria has vastly different values than a man in America, and this can be found between almost any two societies as a result of religious, economic, political, or any other sort of factors.

@jason2: exactly
InvaderNice · 26-30, M
Are you asking if "good" and "bad" are a social construct?
Rafa369 · 22-25, M
@InvaderNice: yeah... if whether or not the standards of considering things to be good or bad are socially constructed... because sometimes, it seems like so
Evened · 51-55, M
It probably is and it's also a matter of perspective.
Rafa369 · 22-25, M
@Evened: so you mean it's in between?

Its OK to be the way you want to without troubling others
