Is it easier to give a speech when you like the topic?

Does it mean you have to prepare from before?

@itjustbegan: There is always preparation involved. That is what you are getting graded on (if you are in school). The instructor will tell you what you are getting graded on - length of time, how many pauses, if you look around - the substance is secondary.

I remember taking a public speaking course and the topic was instructional. We had to pick a topic and give instructions on it. While everyone else picked dry subjects that were boring mine was on how to make a porcupine quill necklace with road kill. It was awesome!

I went there without any preparation and gave a speech. I was just thinking what could I have done to improve.

@itjustbegan: LOL I think there are people that are natural speakers. I am always more comfortable speaking "off the cuff". I get nervous when I prepare too much

Same with me too. And I wasn't nervous at all but I didn't have any idea what to say. People said I gave a good speech but I knew I was totally clueless while I was speaking and you know how that sounds.
