Trouble Communicating Verbally?

Has anyone ever had trouble communicating verbally? I have a hard time responding back to people verbally because I can't get my thoughts together in order to give a lengthy response. I also have a hard time remembering what people say especially if they say a lot. I focus on certain things they say and try to have a conversation based on that. I prefer communicating through typing or writing. I also retain information better if they are written or typed down. Anyone can relate?
