Every single used car my family has ever bought has had some kind of defect that didn't really affect the usability of the car, but was super annoying nonetheless. I know it's expensive, but I prefer new. I want my car to just work the way it's supposed to without worrying about some hidden time bomb in the system that the previous owner didn't disclose, or caused by neglect, or a weird quirk that only shows itself some of the time.

I have never done the math but I prefer to buy new.
I have gotten screwed with $1500+ repairs early after buying two used cars.
The new cars typically go fine for 8 years without issue and their resale is fantastic.
Keep in mind... I'm considering resale value when I buy a new car. I would never buy a new car with a horrible resale value (think Jaguar).

my newest was a program truck, so had a few miles. I might by a new one in the future to get exactly what I want
