For all you barefooters out there. What was your story about how you became a barefooter?

BTW, I’m so glad to have all of you on the barefoot side! 😁 Shoes are gross! 😝, and socks are even worse 😫.

I lived in Africa for 3 years when I was a child and being barefooted was common and felt so natural. When I got back to England I just carried on.At senior school us girls didn't have to wear uniform and in summer I usually wore shorts with my big feet bare, and ran track and cross country barefooted.I have a third dan karate black belt, and I can break thick wooden boards with my bare feet,in fact my kicks can kill and cripple opponents as my feet are extremely tough and hard and strong.I can beat my instructor when we spar.I have had thousands of compliments about how perfect my feet are.

I had always a aversion to shoes. Whenever I had the opportunity to be barefoot I did it. I have just love the feeling of freedom on my feet and the nice feel of the ground, of grass, earth and mud under my soles. 😊

As young teenager I began to go barefoot with ever increased regularity outside. I had mostly still shoes with me but I took off them whenever I could. I wore never socks, only old scruffy sneakers or slipper who I could simply slide out of them.

Then with 14-15 I went almost completely without shoes to outside all summer. I liked to see how my feet got more and more dirty and was really proud of my tough black soles. It was for me a lifestyle and a important part of my identity. I feel me simply better and more myself. And my bare filthy feet was also a statement for this lifestyle.

And now I'm still a true barefooter - always and everywhere!

I completely agree with you, especially in the warmer months feet need to be completely bare!! 😀

For me I was raised as a barefoot girl, from the first day of the School summer holidays until it was time to go back I was exclusively barefoot 😀 A tradition I have carried on into adulthood and have passed down to my three kids.

I never really went barefoot much until I had a bad experience with anxiety years back now. I was seeing a therapist and he was very into grounding. I kept dismissing it until I had a panic attack during a session and he convinced me to take my shoes off and focus on the carpet under my feet.
After that he set me the challenge of attempting actual grounding exercises. It grew from there.

@nudydude I knew ever since I was a kid that I also had a feet fetish but since we grew up before the internet age, it was something you would not normally talk about. I also live in Florida and I walk around barefoot just about everywhere.

Nothing wrong with letting your bare feet breathe and easy to do so.

@nudydude I know some who are like that; I tried to help some and they laughed and/or ignored it when i told them that barefooting can help and improve their health.

I'm not so much a barefooter, but I do love shedding my shoes and socks on occasion and wriggling my toes. I loved doing PE in bare feet at school too, how about you?
Barefooter25 · 46-50, M
For me, it was a long process that didn't happen overnight. I started going barefoot to places little by little over the years.
BarefootLeilani · 22-25, F
@Barefooter25 Well I’m sure your feet toughened up as you went barefoot more and more. Where you shy about going barefoot when you first started?
Barefooter25 · 46-50, M
Yes I was at first but soon I started to gain confidence and I started to go barefoot to different places.
MrGomco · 36-40, M
Why do you like to be a barefooter?🤔 I can't walk without shoes
BarefootLeilani · 22-25, F
@MrGomco It feels so good on my soles and it makes me feel much more connected to the earth. BTW, your feet are very tender, because they’ve been stuck in shoes all the time. If you go barefoot a lot (especially outside on sidewalks) your feet will get grow muscles and calluses, and your feet will get tougher and will be able to walk on very rough surfaces easily.
MrGomco · 36-40, M
@BarefootLeilani oh I see, I'm barefoot just when I take a shower, I avoid to be barefoot because I don't like to have dirty soles.
BarefootLeilani · 22-25, F
@MrGomco I LOVE it when my feet and soles get dirty. To me it’s the symbol of a true barefooter, but if you’re not into that then that’s fine. Do whatever floats your boat.

Hook worms and rough black feet are worse
BarefootLeilani · 22-25, F
@SW-User What are you saying? You’re saying I’ll get those from going barefoot a lot?
SW-User
@BarefootLeilani outside or if you have pets
BarefootLeilani · 22-25, F
@SW-User LoL, well you don’t get diseases from going barefoot, those are all myths. Don’t believe me? Just go on barefootislegal.org.
SW-User
I only go barefoot at home.
BarefootLeilani · 22-25, F
@SW-User I love going barefoot in public and getting my feet dirty. It makes me feel so peaceful and heavenly.

What about us flip-floppers?
BarefootLeilani · 22-25, F
@awhitedot Flip flops are the next best thing to going barefoot, but I love to feel the texture of the earth with my bare soles.

I was born that way.

I have shitty ankles from repeated injuries. I roll my ankles and they slip out why less barefoot or in high work boots. So if I ain't wearing sturdy boots, barefoot it is.
BarefootLeilani · 22-25, F
I personally hate shoes all together, but if you wanna wear them, that’s totally fine, I respect that. (Most people do anyway) But I love to hike and do outdoor work barefoot. That seems intimidating for people that aren’t used to going barefoot, because you have to walk on some rough and sharp surfaces, but if you go barefoot often for long periods of time your feet will get tougher. Your soles will build muscle and get callused so your feet can take the rigors and dangers of those rough sharp surfaces. It’ll almost be like wearing shoes except you can feel the surfaces. It feels so good if your feet are used to it 😌
SandraB · 36-40, F
@BarefootLeilani During the spring and summertime one of my favourite activities is a cool morning barefoot walk around the forest. There’s so much going on whether it’s walking through the stream, rough stones or the carpet of pine needles it’s amazing 😀
SW-User
@SandraB Agreed!
