When do you realize that you wasted your life?

How do you know that you wasted your life? You have been to different places in the world, served in the military,raised children,.helped people, and generally never purposely hurt anyone, and never held a grudge. But,..late in life find yourself alone and nearly penniless?

I think there are different points in our life where we have a wake up call and we realize we were living a fantasy of what they told us the world to be vs what it actually is.

@Specialyouare I think the wake call occurs when at some point you realize that so many people seriously do not care about the fellow person. And you find that many of the basic premise you have been assuming to be correct,..are not so.

If you have hands and ears, you can still be a great deal of help to a lot of people. You won't change the world, but for a select few, your presence was not wasted

There have been many times in my life I've had to take a step back and look at where I am and compare it to my expectations. I'm a dreamer and I forget the realities are not what I am living. So a re arrangement of priorities, actions and attitudes are a necessity in changing my life.
