Anyone ever experienced a pain like this...?

I was laying down trying to sleep and when I took a breathe, I got a sharp pain in my lower back. It happened a few times more as I inhaled but relieved as i exhaled. This happened repeatedly a few times. I've felt this before but this was the worse. I've been to the doc before for back pain in general. They dont care.

Do beginners yoga for the back. It's great to strengthen the muscles
That sounds familiar. I have some issues with a tense lower back. Stretching seems to help, as I haven't had that sort of pain in a long time.

I want to suggest that you see someone about it since it sounds like it's recurring for you, but if your doctor isn't helpful it feels like a waste of time. It's nice to have a professional give you a definitive answer, but I suppose you could research and read up about it yourself to get an idea of what it might be and figure out a solution.

@AmbivalentFriability yes. Amd i had stretched before I laid down. I've been googling. Then I came here.
So you've felt the sharp pain when inhaling? It goes away after a few breaths but now my back hurts in a different way, if that makes sense.
@iamnikki Yes, that sounds right. It seemed to help somewhat when I positioned myself differently.
The ache in my lower back went away after awhile of lightly stretching it.
do you do any pilates or yoga? I know it sounds like a cliche but it really does wonders for spine alignment

@metaldog no. I had just stretched my back and neck before I laid down

That may be a pinched nerve or sciatica.
Yes, they don't care.
Acupuncture?
iamnikki · 31-35, F
@Love4All never tried it

Well, that's pretty bad if you can barely move your back without the sharp pain.

Is it caused by anything remotely serious?
iamnikki · 31-35, F
@SW-User it was only a few seconds of pain but a sharp pain. Now it hurts. Nothing happened to my back

do you have a "pinched nerve"?
Curiousme · 56-60, M
Are you doing some exercises that are causing some strain then?
iamnikki · 31-35, F
@Curiousme nope. I stretched lightly few minutes before

please remember that cool-down exercises are as important as warm-ups too.
