Why are you still friends with people who have distorted views and worst of attitudes?

We have been friends since we were kids, hed invite me for the weekend and he and his wife were very relaxed at allowing me to dress as a girl. His wife and i would rumage around he wardrobe and id try things on in my undies, we would laugh so much.
He has become an anti islamist and associates wiv v dodgey groups.
We never discuss politics together. We are very close even though his politics is ultra right and im a left winger, i love him.

People bond more over shared experiences than shared ideas generally speaking.

I'm not hence why I don't have many friends
