@Jonjdw "the original Pink Floyd sound". You know that Gilmore wasn't in the band originally and their sound was very different back then yeah?
I've always thought the band needed each other. Nick and Richard were too jazz bluesy, Syd was too quirky, Roger was too intense and David was too main stream. Together they made arguably the greatest albums ever but apart they were just average. Not bad, but not the best like Pink Floyd is.
To me, the Wall will always be the final album that Pink Floyd did. The rest felt more like solo albums the band did for Roger and David.
