Well suicide is usually done when the person attempting it has lost all hope. Martyrdom is more so killing someone for holding a belief..

A well publicized suicide is not martyrdom.
An unknown murder due to religious grounds isnt suicide.
However I can understand your comparison, in our media hungry world.
