What is the point of the letter "Q" if you never use it by its self?

@UndeadPrivateer: It's weird because a Q without a 'U' following it just makes the 'k' sound pretty much. Q is almost pretty much useless.

@Caine: It can also make an 's' sound. It depends on the word. Very weird, though, yeah.
