What exactly happens when you die from shock?

Particularly in cases when you are being tortured until you finally die from shock.

Well, I would assume your heart stops and that's the end. Your blood pressure drops and you die.

@deadmoon: You don't usually die from shock. It can lead to death if not addressed properly.

Shock focuses blood to essential body parts such as the brain and heart. It is the body trying to defend itself from death.

I am not 100% but if memory serves it causes a fatal drop in blood pressure.
