Shouldn't the purpose of a funeral be to celebrate the life of the deceased rather than mourning their death?

The purpose of a funeral should be to dispose of a corpse in the most comedic manner possible. Like dressing the corpse as superman and then taking it on a huge boat with a giant sling shot and shooting it into the sunset. Or strapping it to a jet propulsion rocket and trying to launch it to the moon.

In some cultures they do celebrate
Yes, the purpose should be to celebrate the deceased life but the emotion of losing a loved one often overshadows the celebration which you allude to... 😣

Some people specifically request a celebration instead. I prefer to celebrate people when they are alive too.

that makes sense to me.i think the deceased would prefer people to be happy as opposed to sad too.
I imagine it is what the family and loved ones need.
The celebration comes after

But there's gotta be a way to squeeze a last laugh out of the corpse's presence.
