I don’t know that I technically have ever had a cockle, though I know they are closely related to scallops (the French word for scallops being coquille St.Jacques, coquille meaning “shell”). I’ve had scallops frequently, and have some in my freezer now to eat next week....but I don’t think I’ve ever really had cockles.
