@Eddiesolds When i think i was a 'struggling student' at the time. College; two jobs; minimal income..... And those motors took me everywhere !

True. Would have taken longer than most other cars ! But if you planned your journeys right,they'd get you anywhere !
And while others didn't have cars or could only borrow their parents cars on occassions, i had my own transport !

@Picklebobble2 Ha! It was one step up from a bus pass but at least you had your own car.

@Wol62 Yeah ! I would get up at 3am and be on the road for 4 ! I went to The Lake district and Wales and Devon in them.
Clear roads; good tunes on the stereo (which, incidentally, probably doubled the value of the car 🤦🏻‍♂️)

@Wol62 theyve now closed the lake down that was tears ago.Good memories.The car was red. Good times!

@anythingoes477 Yes and no...it's all subjective. If you want a deliberately un-stylish car then go for the old Lada's.

@yeronlyman Yes! They looked ugly in the 70s & 80s but now I think they are cool.

@Johnblackthorn Yeah, despite having a reputation for being unreliable, they were solid. They needed to be for those Russian Winters.

@Wol62 yes and in reality they were reliable, the reputation for unreliable came from being so reliable no one ever serviced them.
