I think it's the people's faith/ belief system that someone supernatural is responsible for the fortunes and misfortunes in life and that not everything can be controlled by us all the time is what everyone calls god. So irrespective of whether there really is such an entity or not, the belief system that someone taking care does all the magic. I do believe
