Do you know your real I.Q.???

I took an online I.Q. test a long time ago. My score was 117. Now that may not sound very high but here is what I found on Quora.
A person with an IQ of 117 is in the 85th percentile of all people. The tested person did better on the test than 85 people and 15 did better than them.
Now besides the actual question I will add this just as a bonus question : The night I took the test I had been drinking a bit. The test is supposed to be done in a 20 minute time frame and I finished in 10. The big one is that I hadn't been diagnosed yet with A.D.H.D and wasn't on my Adderall.
So I am wondering if people think I would have done any better if the situation would have been different or if that reflected the same outcome.

IQ points can vary depending on what test was used (ex a WISC or a Stanford Binet) so the percentile is more significant than the IQ score.

As far as testing - Scores can vary by a few points here and there but not much. If the assessor didn’t mention any shortcomings in the report in the way of attention to task then i doubt being medicated for aDHD would change the result since ADHD itself doesn’t impact IQ.

Most people who complete university are at about 115 IQ.

@DoubleRings I like this answer. This is the reason I posed this question was to get answer just like this. Thanks. :-)
Do you know that about 40 'geniuses' just answered your post to tell you how intelligent they are!!

@rckt148 She is some funny people isn't she??? LOL. I love it.
rckt148 · 61-69, M
@Dainbramadge Yes ,,if she only knew what I have done she would know I am one of the most humble poor rich men you are ever going to meet .
I have slept with the Hobo;s after I rubbed elbows with stars
The rise and fall of a know it all ..
and I have never told anyone they called me a genius
but I have had a lot of people tell me I should submit to them because they were and then tell me their IQ's like that impressed me
but I like her humor ,she and I are always cool 🍻

@PainfulTruth I have a buddy that scored a lambs breath higher than I did on that test and he has the same problem you describe. He has such a hard time with stuff that people with lower I.Q. scores breeze through.
midnightsun · 26-30, M
Professional IQ test I scored above 150+ but I think I'm pretty dumb in general becHse I don't believe in a test determining your intelligence.
Dainbramadge · 56-60, M
@NiftyWhite @Mona86 OK. You guys just gave me a good laugh. LOL.
midnightsun · 26-30, M
@Mona86 I'm not a native English speaker like most of you
Dainbramadge · 56-60, M
@midnightsun Hey neither am I. I speak two languages, English and bad English. LOL I had to throw that in because it is so rare that I get to use it. :-)
Dainbramadge · 56-60, M
@SheCallsMeCrushDaddy Preaching to the choir. LOL. It's not the I.Q. # that makes the man it's what the man makes from his I.Q.#.
Love this answer. :-)
@Dainbramadge thanks, bro. we gotta make the best of what we have. just thankful i was blessed with the sense that i do have. could have been alot worse. if you ever think you have a rough lot in life, just go to walmart and walk around. you'll realize how blessed you really are. LOL
Dainbramadge · 56-60, M
@SheCallsMeCrushDaddy Ha ha ha ha!!!!!!!!!!!!! Walmart. LOL.
rckt148 · 61-69, M
My IQ at 16 was 145
I have since been tested and its still about the same
but IQ does not prove how smart you are
Its the test that shows you're ability to learn
Dainbramadge · 56-60, M
@rckt148 Right. I call it rating your brains horse power. LOL What you do with it is what makes a difference. Nice answer. :-)
@rckt148 isn't intelligence the ability 2 learn?
rckt148 · 61-69, M
@Whiterosesociety Not sure how to answer that
I know for me I learn easy ,,at least now that I am grown ,easier
If I watch you do something ,as a rule I can repeat it .
Things that some called "learned skills " just come naturally to me ,
Like playing instruments ,I just hear the proper notes ,but I didn't take the time to learn to read music ,but if I hear a song ,,as a rule I can duplicate it
and on many different instruments ..if I was intelligent ,I would have also learned to read music ,,then with sheet music I could play anything ..things that I have never heard ,but the notes are spelled out for me .
Some say I am highly intelligent ,some say I am just a know it all (most of the ones that say that have not done anything with their own lives ,so they talk crap to the ones who have ,I chock it up to jealousy in our natural abilities )
I had natural mechanical abilities at 16 ,,figuring things out came easy to me
But I was not one that liked reading instructions or being told what to do
I preferred to observe ,then duplicate .
Now that I am older I can follow written instructions too ,or listen and comprehend ,but I still prefer hands on .
Am I intelligent ? I guess thats debatable
Do I have a lot of experience at a lot of different things ,and good at most of them ,,yes
Overcoming feeling's that everyone was judging me and hoping I would fail at the things I tried was a huge help .but also made me an overachiever ,I had something to prove ,,now days .I could care less what you think of me .
I have confidence in myself and my abilities .I no longer feel the need of proving myself or anyone's approval ,though I still love helping others and feeling useful .
If I don't know something ,I educate myself .
I am not afraid to try and fail ,,it helps me know my limitations .or my strong points from my weaknesses .
All I know is I learn easy if its something I am interested in
and I can also work very well under pressure .
I am in my element while others are in a panic and loosing their minds .
I have accomplished enough that I have nothing to be ashamed of .
And I say that as a fact ,not trying to brag
If I wanted to brag ,I would just tell people who I was ,,
Now days I am just a has been ,,I have done a lot of good things ,,but I am old now ,
slowing down ,and I have physical limitations .
But the things I know ,and how I managed to become very successful with only a 9th grade education ,can still have value .
That info can still be useful to the wise willing to learn from my success and failures .
I have a lot of experience ,,I have lived a long life overcoming limitations put before me by others ,"You can't do that "or "It can't be done that way "
Watch me .I love proving nay sayers wrong .
I am confident at the things I can do ,,but my IQ has not changed much .
(I have been evaluated by just about every test known to man )LOL

What ever they said I had going for me at 16 ,is still about the same
In spite of a life time of accomplishments
So I still agree with the statement "Its the standard to see how much you are capable of learning ,,not that you are necessarily ,,intelligent or smart .
Just that I may be a little better then some at learning things .and retaining the things I learned ,and I have a super memory .
Most genius's are one fruit loop away from being nuts
I am not there YET ,and I am still learning
I don't think I have anything figured out except ..what works for me
I am intelligent enough to admit ,,I don't have all the answers
But I am very good at "My Part".
The things I wanted to learn ,have served me very well ,and allowed me to be successful ,it just comes easy to me .or it doesn't
I am ok with not being an Einstein or Walter O'Brien

@Dainbramadge He’s sharp... no doubt but like I said, he was messing with you! 😂
Dainbramadge · 56-60, M
@SW-User I hate it when that happens and it goes way over my head.
Had it happen not to long ago to on Facebook. A guy jokingly told me it was him on the cover of a book he wrote. I believed him LOL
Then he had to tell me he was just messing around.
Can you say embarrassed??
SW-User
@Dainbramadge AHAHAHA I’ve been properly trained...
NiftyWhite · 46-50, F
Prob not a significant difference. Go get assessed and check. 🤷‍♀️
Dainbramadge · 56-60, M
@NiftyWhite See that is what I was wondering. I mean would the Adderall be an unfair advantage???
I kind of looked at it like your brain either works at a certain level or it doesn't.
Thanks for answering. :-)
Dainbramadge · 56-60, M
@Beautywithin Not bad at all. I was looking at the Mensa web site where I think I took the practice entry test at. Man you have to be a genius to decipher that dog I can say. But from what I get from that you have a respectful score.
Thanks for your honest answer.
they aren't reliable...the real ones are different and expensive.
MartinTheFirst · 22-25, M
Mine was 72
MartinTheFirst · 22-25, M
@Dainbramadge Sounds like you're just trying to humble brag my friend. However I don't believe that the iq test measures anything decipherable so it passes me by unnoticed.
Dainbramadge · 56-60, M
@MartinTheFirst You could be right. But in my mind I wanted to get the general public's opinion on the whole situation.
I originally took the test because I was having issues at work and I felt that my intelligence itself was being questioned. The test satisfied me and made me feel a little better about myself.
Sorry if I come off like a braggart it honestly wasn't my intention.
MartinTheFirst · 22-25, M
@Dainbramadge It's no one's intention to brag to the point where other people gets less of an opinion. The bragger does it in a natural way (they mean it) where they believe that it will be received well by others around them. I'm glad it brought you more confidence in your self, that can't hurt anyone really. Yet it is an observable fact that people will accept nearly any compliment thrown their direction. I guess I just find it amusing.

I only weaponize it once it makes someone act arrogant, hence I do not intend to make you feel bad.
