Do you believe you know the truth about life?

If a person has no idea and can see potential truths in many conflicting theories, what does that mean?
Is there such a thing as 'truth'? Or is that in itself infact an illusion?
Can a person believe they are a good person and it in fact be wrong? Or is your own perspective on yourself everything?

@HeilHitler Exactly, they will never understand. Even when I was a believer I still questioned religion itself and stuff in the bible and those that said to accept things in blind faith. Once I fully recanted and became Atheist myself back in december 2013, I felt free of religion's restrictions.

@HeilHitler I think the deer got paralyzed by the headlights.

@DDonde Where did you disappear to?

Perception is always biased due to personal life experiences.
@NativeOregonian yeah I always thought that if I was infact ignorant to the 'truth' then its not actually my own fault as a mere lost human but some claim it doesn't matter and you will pay for your ignorance

Yes, I know the big answers.

Morality is subject to the proper determining of truth. Begin by seeking the truth, and begin this by forming a definition of reality- including quantifying all its possibilities.

The “truth” and “good” are different things.
@SW-User that's where it gets confusing. So if you believe you are good then that's the end of the story.... Some may tell you that you will go to hell even though you believe you are good, they will say 'the devil has tricked you'... How do you know that they are not right and it is you who is wrong? We don't right? So its not just me? I'm just one of the few who admit to it?
I would like to know the truth and stop going round and round for years every time I research anything at all

@MushroomFaerie morality is subjective. Your religious faith is based on its own moral code.
@SW-User I hope so, its all one can do. I've never bought into scare tactics... I've always seen them as so negative they couldn't be true but I've been reading some scary as shit that makes me wonder if I've been wrong all along

The idea that there is truth or meaning is used to suck people into religions, political movements and other scams.

Yes and no.
@Entwistle you would need a more detailed answer for that even to be valid and I'm sure your aware of that so I'm not sure why you answered if you can't be bothered

@MushroomFaerie I was being sarcastic.

It means they don't know.
Is there such a thing as 'truth'?
Yes. You can make true statements and false statements.
Can a person believe they are a good person and it fact be wrong?
Yes.
Or is your own perspective on yourself everything?
No.
@DDonde I know it means they don't know... That's pretty much exactly what I said, I'm asking what it means to be unsure when everybody appears to have their own solid views on everything.
Truth about life not things like every day interactions or what makes sense in a court of law... The question is a philosophical one which is obvious.
The yes and no answers make me feel like your being a smart ass here
DDonde · 31-35, M
@MushroomFaerie What it means to be unsure when it appears like everyone around you thinks they have it all figured out... I would say that that means that you may have actually given it some more thought than they have. That you employ skepticism where they do not.
However that's not necessarily true either - You can have conviction in beliefs even after you have applied skepticism to them. But I suppose many people just go about life, accepting certain ideas about reality without really thinking too hard about it.

I'm not trying to be a smart-ass.
@DDonde thankyou, I guess if you put effort in and you try in this life then that's all it can possibly want... Maybe
