Why are most kids brutally honest?

Some kid roasted me saying I look like the fat version of Princess Bells. She is very good at roasting and she's only 10. As age 10 I wouldn't even have the guts to roast someone. I was a huge crybaby and kids called me a crybaby and my parents would get tough on me and tell me to go back and talk to those kids and stand up for myself. Anyways I know my younger cousin was joking but it really offended me. Kids are so unapologetic.
She said, "More like The Beast and the Frog. I would have read a book before meeting you." The other two kids were like "Ooohhhhh!!!!" I just smiled and walked off. She said, "Hey I'm not done. Let me see some more pictures."
She said its a Roasting Challenge but I never wanted part of it

That's not being honest, that's being a jerk.

At 10?? Jupiter is correct. That kid is a jerk, or has incredibly poor social skills.
Me either!! My oldest daughter is very outspoken but even at her worst she would never say that to someone... at that age. @EmotionalMotherlessWoman1988

At age 10 she should know basic manners...like what not to say.

@EmotionalMotherlessWoman1988 That's so rude. I blame the parents.
You should have probably said something to her, not to roast her but to put her in her place.

@EmotionalMotherlessWoman1988 It doesn't make you a wuss but a polite person

She needs someone to explain to her that we don't say such things. By 10 she should be developing and empathy for others.
They haven't yet been conditioned to lie. But they'll catch on quickly.
