As your basic Democrat.... I praise a societies respect of a woman's right to choose what to do with her body! It is fundamental. I am not crazy about late term abortion though. I think it is a bit heinous. What are your thoughts?
Well legally you can't abort after 24 weeks anyhow (under federal law). So the late term abortion thing isn't an issue in the US. Pretty sure it's only a thing in Canada.
@Qwerty14 Fed law doesn’t actually work that way. It just says that states can regulate abortions after viability - except in case where the woman’s life is at risk.
@QuixoticSoul So the Roe v Wade case that states viability at 24 weeks isn't legally binding? That's terrible. I'm glad NY put in laws to back up that 24 week point then.
@Qwerty14 It just means that states can’t prevent first or second trimester abortions or ones where the mother’s life is at risk. The rest is up to the states. Most do restrict third trimester abortions.
I’m also pro-choice. But my understanding is that so-called “late term” abortions are mostly rhetoric. After all, if the fetus is viable why wouldn’t they just deliver it ? Especially those who claim “abortions up to 9 mos”—that’s a Cesarean birth.
Based on this post alone I would not vote for you.
You could not be bothered to do any research to figure out that late term abortions only happen in a life or death situation.
Late term abortions are not actually abortions but life saving measures. They are performed when the life of the child cannot be sustained and birthing that child would cause death to the mother.
Claiming that you "are not crazy about late term abortions" means you are not for saving one life but would rather lose two.
