Where did communism originate from?

It's origins stem from the French word commun. The first written work was The Communist Manifesto written by Karl Marx & Friedrich Engel.

@Alek86 I read that book when I was 12. In principle it makes a lot of sense. In practice, it doesn't work because there's always someone who wants to be, and ultimately is, in power.

It was a confluence of evolving ideas, I would argue garbage ideas. It didn't have one point of origination, but Europe as a broad answer works.
