Writing prompt: What happened?

You find the ruins of an ancient civilization. From what you could tell, they were surprisingly advanced in terms of culture, government, and sociology. And somehow the "primitive" tribes in the surrounding area originated from here, little more than shadows of their ancestors.

Eventually, you found what brought a society such as this to ruin. What is it you found and what will you do with it?

I found they used lead vats to ferment their wine, leading to society-wide brain damage and irrational aggression. What will I do with it? Start marketing 'Special Brand' wines to our elites.

Four lost civilizations come to mind: the Atlantean, Lemurian, Gobian and the Hebrew (Not Jewish as these are entirely different one from the other). I would probably have found volcanic ash.
