Ever Been Rejected Even Though You Had Talent?

I play drums and landed an audition to be in a pretty big band (well sort of big). I am good but was not good enough I guess. They even complimented me but rejected me. I wanted it so bad. It was tough to deal with. What about you?

Yes, and I still think it affects me in continuing on with my writing.
In 2011, I submitted a short story to a prestigious writing competition and I worked 6 months on this story, started out at about 5500 words, edited and cut, edited and cut to 3500 word limit...it was based on a true event, and was highly relevant at the time, and I seriously thought I'd win. I didn't even get honorable mention. But. Out of 1825 entries from around the world, my story was numbered at 300. But god-damned, I wanted to win. 😔

@Montanaman Writing is a hard taskmaster. I'm sure you've read all of the stories of all the best writers, telling about all,the rejection letters they received before one publisher decided to give them a chance. Never give up.

I’ve been dropped from a group where I fitted the role perfectly.

Wasn’t a reflection on me. The co founder was a controlling nutter who was trying to sleep with me and realised he couldn’t.

I'm pretty talentless. I was rejected from the high school band because I even ruined the Christmas concert by missing my cue, and all I had to do was one *pinnngggg* on the triangle. 🎼🎵🔺
