Am I...?

The only one who doesn't (and thinks it's weird when people) use high pitched voices with animals asking them "how are you. Who's a good boy? Oh you're sooo cute...etc. etc." like omg that to me is just weird...

I didn't do "baby talk" with my children, and I'm certainly not going to do it to my dog, either.

If people start to do that to either my kids or my dog, I ask them to stop talking like they have mental issues, and address them properly.

@GwydionFrost thank god I'm not the only one. I used to do that. And now that I'm older I don't like it.
Idk. Part of me is like "you really think the dog is going to respond." And then when you realize dogs can sense high pitch sounds cause of sensitive their hearing is. You got to wonder if they actually don't like it.

I talk to my dog like I talk to a baby, with words. I don't see the point in raising my pitch... if they can't understand me anyway, what's the point?

Might as well talk to them like a normal being.
It's to let the animal know your not threatening

@MushroomFaerie you can use body language though...like don't be squared up. Don't use direct eye contact.
Idk I've been around horses and dogs and cats and other animals all my life and I've never "baby talked" with any of them except when I was like 10.
@londonbr1dge I like baby talking to animals, I like the insane looks people give me when they hear it
