Do you or anyone you know have a non-traditional Thanksgiving celebration?

Turkey, gravy, pie, etc. is all kind of generic. There doesn't seem to be many people with any interesting twists or creative additions to the standard fare. Wondering if any families even bother.

If you don't, what would you like to make a family tradition?

I don't eat most of the food and this year, I have no family except my little son. We're making a turkey and a paleo pumpkin pie with coconut ice cream. And I'll make him some crackers and dino nuggets. And we'll watch Scooby Doo. Looking forward to it.

@StokedFox The concept of a paleo pumpkin pie is kind of a mind-bender. Eating pumpkin pie just the way our ancestors did before the advent of pie; it's a crazy thought. Anyways, sounds like a way more meaningful Thanksgiving than what most people are doing

@SW-User yeah lol I don't eat sugar, grains or dairy anymore, but I do miss a warm slice of pumpkin pie... I'm improvising so we can still enjoy a treat. I kind of twisted the meaning for us. Telling my son it's a just a day we're happy to be alive. Thankful for our food and shelter, the animals and trees and the people we love. We're alone and broke, but there's no sense in feeling sorry for ourselves :) Much to be thankful for :)

the food is typical but I go to a "misfit" Thanksgiving for people that are too far away from their families for Thanksgiving

My family sometimes switch up traditional chtistmas food. One year we had spaghetti, then barbecue the next. I hate when
they do that 😐

I make corn pudding and we have pumkin bread stuffing.that's a little variety of the norm.
