Why do parents love one child and hate the other 😭

My then wife once asked me which of our three was my 'favourite'.😱
Amongst all the fucked up thinking in her head, to give voice to that one was rather shocking.

That should never happen. You can like one child more (get on with one child more), but you should always love them equally.

Well my father hated the bond between myself and my two brothers. So he could only see us one at a time. If there was a time when we 3 were together my father would act real jealous and paranoid. He literally can't cope and it's written all over his face. Very strange man. My beautiful mother loved my middle brother more. How could she not he is the most amazing man. Pity my father couldn't or can't see it. Strange narcissistic egocentric father we have!

I don't think most parents hate any of their kids. At least I hope not.
