The Battle of Peiwar Kotal [I Love History]

Nearly forgotten now, this battle was General Roberts first victory in the 2nd Afghan War of 1878-80. Fighting an enemy who both outnumbered him and was entrenched in a strong position, he used a combination of a feint attack and double flanking movement to defeat the Afghans and send them back. Roberts was the general Kipling immortalised as 'Bobs'.

The British look slightly out numbered. 🤔

@Degbeme They were, but Roberts was a skilled general, with a redoubtable little army of Sikhs, Gurkhas, Scots and English. Bobs Roberts was an Irishman.

At first I though that was the battle for Middle Earth

@SW-User Same idea. A lot of brave people dying.
