How about a tour?

When you host friends at your home for the first time, do you feel obligated to give them a tour? I'm a little apprehensive about showing off my personal space -- my bedrooms [mainly because one of them is full of stuff]. I don't mind showing the main floor and the basement since that's where I'll be entertaining them.
Tours are a bit nosey/narcissistic unless you've invited your good friend to your brand new house
@MushroomFaerie Agreed. I've been here 18 years so nothing new.

No one is allowed in my bedroom, except me 👀.

Oh how I hate this
...I will not feel obligated to do this ..

I think the only time a full tour is given is if you moved into a new house and wanted to show a longtime friend the difference between it and your old place (in terms of room/more space for example).

My mother-in-law asked my husband, "So, do we get a tour?" He just said, "No, I don't do that. Want some coffee?" and changed the subject. Wish I could be that matter-of-fact about stuff.
They don't need to see your bedroom or anywhere else. Just the area you'll be entertaining them.
Well isn’t this part of hosting a new friend of yours part of it giving them a tour of house
@1231231231a Not the entire house, unless they're spending the night or something.
