Has a Telemarketer ever told you that your vehicle has been expired?

If so did you blocked the number?

[c=#BF0080]I had one call today. I don’t block them cause they just call from diff numbers anyway. I press what they want you to and then mute and tie up their line 😆 [/c]

A call such as Tennessean describes is unlikely to be tried here in the UK, thanks to different laws.

A caller here cannot say "Your vehicle has expired" because it would not make sense, but they might try claiming its Road Fund Licence (tax), insurance or MoT Test (annual safety test) has expired.

Instead they try as Zoranna says, to pretend you or your vehicle was involved in an accident.

I have openly called quite a few scam callers "Liar and thief!", finger on the switch-hook ready to end the call too promptly to give them the pleasure of slamming their phone down on me.

Some years ago I had a land-line call from a gentleman with the mandatory Indian accent, trying to sell me a portable telephone contract.

I am sure it was genuine but I could not make him see that his £8/month was not really competitive with my approximately £5/month PAYG costs.

Eventually he said "Excuse me", and left the line open. I could hear other voices, then a young lady came on the phone.

"Aha!", I thought, "The charm offensive!"

I managed to steer Angel as she told me her name was, away from phone contracts, and we had a very pleasant half-hour, general conversation at her employer's expense.

She rang me again a week or so later for a similar chat, and I felt I ought warn her she was risking her employment by this.

We had another sociable conversation a couple of weeks later, and again I warned her; but it was the last time so I do wonder if the company had realised what was going on, so had sacked her, or at least moved her from the call-centre desks.

I've got scam calls depicting that my ATM cards have been blocked. This one guy urged me to get a replacement and I said I didn't care. He was persistent and I asked him his and he hung up 😂.

I wish I could but they change their number ever so often.

@Beatbox34 I know. It's best just to hang up on them. I was receiving messages from "Australia Post" telling me that they had a parcel for me and that I would be FINED if I didn't collect it. lol They really think people are stupid.
Australia Post leaves a card in your mail box if they can't deliver a parcel.

@Zoranna These callers are actually idiots and they spill out shit even without realizing it 😂
I probably have a hundred numbers from those telemarketers saying that mess. Funny thing is I don't have a car. It's strange how they can find a new number to call you from.

No but I've had scam calls about car accidents I've "allegedly" been in. Yes, numbers blocked.

nope, I love to keep them on the phone as long as I can with nonsense. It amuses me and I figure saves someone else from the call for a while
