What game is this?

I remember an old Japanese horror game in which a city gets taken over by some sort of demon onslaught. If I remember correctly, you start out in a subway at night. You have to take refuge in the sewers.

I particularly remember a part where a large, slow-moving monster traces your footsteps and you have to solve a puzzle to get through a door before it gets you.

My hometown doesn’t have a news broadcast. They barely have any news.

Once in a while they do. Some guy killed a man and told somebody about it. That somebody called the police, who called the murderer in question and asked him to come to the station to discuss it. They probably didn’t have any gas in the cruiser.

He promptly came in and thoughtfully brought the body of his victim along in the back of the pickup he drove, so they didn’t have to bother borrowing a detective.
